This was, apparently, an unusual move, as most films are based in New York or Los Angeles for cost and convenience. The interior shots, meanwhile, were filmed on sets built at a nearby naval base. "I think it’s 2,000 square feet." (In 2014, a Seattle tech executive reportedly bought the Sleepless in Seattle houseboat for over $2 million.) "We looked at so many floating homes in Seattle and finally ended up in the biggest one there," Townsend says. The exterior shots of Sam’s home were filmed on location at an actual houseboat in the area. It’s literally on water and moves a little bit with the tide." Of course, the eccentric residence also lent the film a sense of whimsy, offering a cinematic spot for a number of shots of Sam gazing wistfully off his deck at the horizon. "I don’t think Jeff Arch would be horrified for me to suggest that there’s something transient-feeling about a floating home. (Townsend notes the houseboat was part of the original screenwriter Jeff Arch’s vision.) "The trajectory was that you have an ostensibly successful architect in Chicago-big market, big skyscrapers, big windows-whose dreams shrink from grief," Townsend says. Illustration by Roger Shankįor Jeffrey Townsend, the film’s production designer, a Seattle floating home was the perfect visual representation of Sam’s unmoored state in the start of the film as a grief-stricken widow fleeing the bustle of Chicago. ![]() ![]() If you enjoyed this episode (which does end on kind of a mind-blowing philosophical question), follow Vulture on Instagram for more, and join us next week on October 20, when Arden Myrin and Lauren Lapkus will be hanging out. None of these are bad ideas, and, in fact, a good argument can be made for combining them into one big, glorious Halloween solo celebration. For instance, Whalen has been playing Ghosts of Tsushima and plans to spend Halloween hanging around her house dressed as a witch and surrounded by recyclable dollar-store decorations, and Browne has been eating pie a lot. It may be the final season of Baroness, but that doesn’t mean these women can’t still make major contributions to how we live our lives. 2 The four also serve as executive producers of the show. 1 Produced by Frantic Films, the series is an all-female comedy series starring Carolyn Taylor, Meredith MacNeill, Aurora Browne and Jennifer Whalen. ![]() It debuted on CBC Television on June 14, 2016. ![]() For starters, there hasn't been a single time that it hasn't offered a prompt on a password box. And there isn't a way to search directly from the autofill prompt.Īgain, 1Password fixes all of those issues. And others, it prompts but says there are no saved passwords for that app/site. I'm not sure what the determining factor is here, but sometimes the autofill feature works fine on LastPass. One of my biggest peeves with LastPass is how utterly unreliable the Android app's autofill option has been-even after Google implemented the autofill API, which I hoped would solve these issues. (If you use LastPass and don't want to switch, please enable this feature Account Options > Extensions Preferences > Log Out after this many minutes of inactivity.) Both 1Password and LastPass lock the vault after a period of inactivity on mobile, but the same doesn't apply to browser extensions. You know what else 1Password does that LastPass doesn't? Auto-lock the vault in the Chrome extension by default. That's a big level up on security for all your passwords. This key is also stored on your trusted devices, so it's easy to keep secure but hard to lose. The key is automatically generated and shared with you in a document when you sign up for 1Password. This is a highly complex key that is required every time you log in on a new device (note: only on the first log in-after the device is confirmed, you can log in with just your username and password). First of all, it doesn't just force 2FA out of the box, but it sets a "secret key" when you create your account. Its 37.2-ounce capacity can accommodate a bottle and a half of the good stuff. Thanks to the purity and clarity of the handmade Turkish glass, you'll be better able to enjoy the way the light dances through your whiskey. The soft, clean lines and thinner but durable lead-free crystal glass take this decanter in a welcomed direction away from those thick, beveled-edge square decanters of yore. When researching, we not only chose those that are a safe material, but we also looked for the most attractive decanters in a variety of styles and sizes, and made sure they had an airtight seal. It could eventually kill you-or at least ruin your whiskey,” he notes. ![]() That may not be an issue for glassware, which you're only using for a few hours, but a decanter holding whiskey for a few days, weeks, or months will make whatever is inside fairly toxic. “Leaded crystal will leach lead into alcohol over time. Aside from durability, Whittaker says, you’ll want to make sure that the decanter, if made from crystal, is lead-free. Where glass is concerned, safety is always an important factor. ![]() “But, it should also be functional-your decanter shouldn't be needlessly difficult to lift or pour from, and you should consider how difficult it will be to clean or dust.” ![]() “A decanter is meant to be displayed, so it should fit your home decor and represent your style,” he says. Since then, I’ve gone back and watched every season from the original Bravo years multiple times, read the associated Project Rungay recaps that are now lost to link rot (my personal burning of the Library of Alexandria), and mourned the loss of that scrappy show that could. Frank: The first season I watched live was season eight (the Mondo Gretchen season), which, not to de-age myself, came out when I was in fourth grade. We can get into whether we think the judging has matched this vibe or dragged it down, but in general, Jason, how have you felt about this season? Bringing back previous contestants who are familiar with Project Runway’s time and budget constraints (and have their own grudges and dramas) has been engaging Siriano is a thoughtful and spirited onscreen presence, even if he rarely says “fierce” anymore the ’90s high school-themed team competition was very fun. This season, however, has mostly clicked for me, despite some quibbles that we’ll talk through. ![]() The series has tried making changes to stay fresh - the judging panel, which once held Michael Kors, swapped in other designers like Zac Posen and Brandon Maxwell, added magazine editor Elaine Welteroth, and in its smartest move, brought back Siriano as a mentor and host starting in season 17 - but I admit that my interest lessened as it felt like Project Runway wasn’t finding the same caliber of people and wasn’t creating new challenges. Yet I think it’s fair to say that Project Runway’s impact waned as the reality-TV genre expanded and Gunn and Klum left for their Prime Video series Making the Cut. From the very beginning, the show was great at casting passionate, distinct competitors who had a specific fashion perspective and work ethic, the apex of which was season four winner Christian Siriano, whose success afterward made him nearly as synonymous with the show as Tim and Heidi. Back then, before reality TV was fully everywhere, it was a phenomenon with Tim Gunn’s “Make it work!” catchphrase and Heidi Klum taking time off from supermodeling to host and judge. I remember watching Project Runway in my college dorm room when it debuted, and then with my best friend in our first postgraduation apartment. But before then, let’s talk about how this All-Stars season fits into the series’ legacy. These judging decisions, they make no sense - and we’ll get into that. Roxana Hadadi: Jason, I write this to you through tears over Rami Kashoú’s unjust exit in the semifinals of this 20th season of Project Runway. Frank dug into that question, this season’s attack on “dated” fashions but defense of “referential” designs, and whether this final trio deserved their runway shows. Ahead of the season finale, Vulture critic Roxana Hadadi and writer Jason P. ![]() When Top Chef convened international contestants for its 20th season and Padma Lakshmi announced her exit from the series, we wondered whether World All-Stars was the end of Top Chef as we know it and now Project Runway’s 20th season, with its similar all-stars format and often-inexplicable judging, has us wondering if Bravo’s other stalwart tournament needs a refresh, too. Nearly 20 years later, they’re Bravo’s only remaining competition series, and both have become legacy institutions in the reality-TV space. In the early aughts, before Bravo became synonymous with Real Housewives, Scandoval, and the Andy Cohen empire, the cable network built on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s unexpected cultural omnipresence with Top Chef and Project Runway, a pair of competition shows ostensibly centered on, respectively, cutting-edge cuisine and high fashion. ![]() Project Runway is increasingly an exercise in hoping for moderate success, for both the contestants and production. Now slide the foot stirrup into the hole at the front of the crossbow and fasten it with two bolts. Next slide the riser onto the stock, and fasten it using the largest of the included bolts. As usual you start by attaching the quiver mount to the bottom of the stock using the included screws and key.
